Ishtar - A Babylonian Goddess of procreation and love, she was the daughter of the Air God Anu. She was known as the Cow of Sin for her promiscuous ways. When the love of her life, Tammuz died, she went deep into the underworld to find him but was unable to do so.

“Ishtar at deathbed - A semester long project where I was working with the sumerian myth of Ishtar that goes through the death of her husband. The project required an exploration of different styles in search of the one stule I would be using for the final product”

allaboutmyths:

Ishtar/Inanna Sumerian/Babylonian goddess of love, lust, sex, war and violence Ishtar is defiantly one of my absolute favorite deities. In one myth, she goes down into the underworld to see her sister, but ends up dying. To return to the world above, she had to choose a replacement. She went up and found that her husband was not morning her. Ishtar became angry and chose him as her replacement (his sister takes half of his punishment every year, hence seasons). She is comparable to Venus, and is associated with the Morning Star (Venus).
